1ST TEAM REPORT
Whittingham 1st XI - 250-8
Fylde 1st XI - 189-7 (P.Willis 41, D.Crawforth 35, S.Mckenzie 33)
FYLDE LOST BY 61 RUNS

SCORECARD HERE
Fylde travelled to Whittingham in confident mood following their
victory over Great Eccleston last week.
Skipper Mike Watkinson elected to bowl first, a decision which
was vindicated immediately as Finch removed the Whittingham opener
with a diving caught and bowled in the opening few overs. Backed up
by Paul Hague from the other end, the scoreboard ticked along slowly
with only 30 reached after 10 overs. Boundaries then began to flow,
with Mohsin Modhi looking in ominous form, flicking anything on the
pads away for runs in ruthless fashion. Golden arm Sam Mackenzie was
then introduced, and he soon has Modhi back in the pavillion after
inducing an edge through to keeper Watkinson. There followed
possibly the worst over in Palace Shield history, but the less said
about that the better (see scorecard if you really must).
Mackenzie then picked up a second wicket, bringing the dangerous
Asfaq Patel to the crease and after playing himself in began a
savage assault on the Fylde attack, hitting numerous big sixes in a
rapid 61 before a high ball was held in the deep by Keith Moore off
the bowling of Ant Ellison. The big hitting continued down the order
as Whittingham piled on the runs in the closing overs, eventually
finishing on 250, with no less than 5 batsmen passing the 30 mark.
Finch probably the pick of the bowlers with 2-67 from 14 overs
amongst the carnage.
The Fylde reply began slowly as the Whittingham bowlers extracted
bounce from the track in accurate spells, with Moore and Darren
Mckenzie early casualties. Paul Willis (41) and Watkinson (20)
rebuilt for a time, but as the required rate soared more risks were
taken and both perished trying to push the score along. Dave
Crawforth continued his fine form with an aggressive 35 before being
bowled by a quicker one from the spinner. The game was now
effectively beyond Fylde but a batting point was claimed courtesy of
a late partnership between Finch (27) and Mackenzie (30) as Fylde
closed well short on 189-7.
A disappointing result, but Whittingham are a talented side and
should be a match for any side in the division and Fylde have
a good chance of bouncing back well against what will probably be a
weakened Thornton side on Saturday.

2ND TEAM REPORT
Hoghton 1st XI - 157ao (L.Jones 5-42,
J.Mcmillan 3-37)
Fylde 2nd XI - 150ao (J.Mcmillan 66)
FYLDE LOST BY 7 RUNS
FULL
SCORECARD HERE
The second team produced an improved performance but fell just
short in their run chase against Hoghton.
Openers Lloyd Jones and Joe Mcmillan were the stars with the ball
as they took 8 wickets between them in bowling miserly spells of
5-42 and 3-37 respectively to bowl the opposition out for 157. Mr
Extras popped up again with 25, 2nd top scorer for Hoghton.
In reply, the accurate bowlers of Hoghton made scoring difficult
and wickets fell regularly as Joe Mcmillan (66) was the only player
to occupy the crease for a long period as the tail fell away quickly
to leave Fylde an agonising 8 runs short of victory.
Fylde have dropped to 5th but in a tight top half of the table, a
positive result next week could see the team climb several places.

3RD TEAM REPORT
Fylde 3rd XI - 145-8 (J.Brambles
37*, R.Galligan 35)
Leyland 4th XI - 148-3
FYLDE LOST BY 7 WICKETS
FULL
SCORECARD HERE
The third team battled hard but in the end were beaten fairly
comfortably by title chasing Leyland.
Batting first, Fylde struggled to score at a high rate as wickets
fell regularly, with only John Brambles (37*) and Captain Richard
Galligan (35) making any significant contributions in a total of 145
all out.
The opening pair for Leyland played aggressively from the start
and the partnership soon passed 100 in quick time. Young all rounder
Andrew Sheffield bowled an excellent spell of 1-9 from 5 overs to
hold up Leyland's victory, but this only delayed the inevitable as
Leyland reached the target in just 25.5 overs.

SUNDAY TEAM FIXTURE
The Sunday team were hammered by Blackpool in a one sided contest
at Moorland Road. Joe Calvert provided the resistance with the bat
for Fylde with a fine 72 not out as he carried his bat in a total of
133 all out. Blackpool made light work of the run chase, losing only
one wicket in reaching their target before six o'clock.
