Fylde 1st XI - 208-7 (P.Hague 49*, D.Smith 42*)
FYLDE LOST BY 40 RUNS

SCORECARD HERE
The first team lost successive games for the first time this
season after being outplayed at Penwortham.
After electing to bowl, Fylde applied early pressure through Paul
Hague and Martin Finch, with Finch making an early breakthrough with
the wicket of Marshall. The second wicket stand was more productive
for Penwortham as wayward deliveries were punished before Lloyd
Jones made broke the partnership just after drinks. The rate slowed
for a time before Whiteman came to the crease to give the innings
late momentum with some clean hitting to help Penwortham to a
competitive 248.
The Fylde reply began slowly as Penwortham bowled very tightly in
an opening 10 overs which yielded just 30 runs. The pressure of the
climbing rate eventually told as both openers perished in quick
succession, Moore for 14 and Willis for 19. Penwortham then
introduced spin to the attack and whilst batsmen got in, nobody in
the top order could go on to make a telling contribution and the
game slipped away from Fylde fairly quickly. A late partnership
between Smith and Hague allowed 2 batting bonus points to be
collected, but 4 points was a disappointing return from a match
which could have been winnable had things gone differently at
various stages.

South Shore at Moorland Road. Joe Mcmillan proved the match winner,
firstly with an unbeaten 49 to hold together the Fylde innings to a
respectable 164 off the 45 overs.
He then decimated the South Shore top order with figures of 5-42 as
Fylde bundled the opposition out for just 108 inside 32 overs.
