Over the winter, the club has been looking into securing an overseas amateur player for the forthcoming season. The club has an obligation to provide the player with accommodation for the duration of their stay (mid April – mid Sept). Therefore, we would like to reach to our members and ask if they have the capacity, and interest, to support both the club and the individual during this time.

There are many advantages to hosting an overseas amateur, however, its important you consider this fits in with you and those living in your home.

‘Back in 2003, when I was just 16 years old, I benefitted greatly from hosting an overseas player. The player who came over helped me develop my game, grow in confidence, and gave me an insight into what cricket and life was like in another country. Having played as an overseas myself, in 2010-11, I have also been on the other side, where I was able to support and pass on my experience to the junior cricketers, in that family home. Both experiences were positive and have helped me to develop as a person and a cricketer.’

Finally, accommodation is the biggest commitment needed to secure an overseas amateur and without that, it simply cannot happen. It is a big commitment but hopefully one that, if its suites, will be of benefit to both you, your family and the player.
